Qualifications
- Minimum 23 years of age.
- Two years verifiable tractor trailer experience.
- Have a stable verifiable work history.
- No DUI or DWI convictions or positive drug screens or events in the past five years and no felony conviction within the last 10 years.
- Have an acceptable driving record as reflected by MVR.
- No major preventable accident in the past five years.
- Have a valid Class (A) CDL
- Meet DOT requirements and be able to pass DOT physical and drug screen tests.
- Be able to perform functions in job description
Tractor Specifications
Owner/Operator Tractors leased to the company must satisfy the following criteria:
- Six years old or newer at the time of leasing.*
- Three-axle, sleeper cab, diesel power, cabover or conventional.
- Wheel base not to exceed 265 inches.
- Stack height of at least 13 feet, 6 inches.
- Fifth wheel height not to exceed 48 inches hooked to empty trailer.
- Dry weight not to exceed 19,000 lbs. full of fuel.
- Tractor must pass complete and detailed safety inspection at time of leasing.
*Once leased on, the not more than six years old requirement is suspended, provided the tractor's appearance and mechanics are properly maintained. Reconditioned tractors older than six years of age passing inspection can be leased under the Owner/Operator program.
Documents Required for Leasing Your Tractor
If your tractor has been cleared for leasing with the company, you will need the following documents to complete the process:
- Copy of Certificate of Title of tractor to be leased to Jim Loyd Transport Co, Inc..
- Proof of insurance.
Physical Damage Insurance
Owner/Operators are advised to have physical damage insurance coverage for the equipment they lease to the company. This coverage can be secured by the owner from many sources in the industry.
Non-Trucking Use - Bobtail Coverage
The company does require the owner to have Non-Trucking Use (Bobtail) insurance coverage on the leased equipment. The owner can secure this coverage from many providers.
Worker's Compensation Coverage
The company requires an Owner/Operator to provide Worker's Compensation Coverage. This coverage can be secured by the owner from many providers within the industry or can be secured through the company.
Cargo Insurance
The company requires the owner to have cargo-loss coverage which can be secured from many sources within the transportation industry. An Owner/Operator can secure this protection from the company through the use of the Cargo Damage Liability Limitation Agreement.
Tires and Parts
Where possible, the company will pass on all its savings for tires and parts. We will also work on owners' equipment.
